Ziplock Description:

Aloksac bags are nice and rugged, and we do offer them on some kits, but they are unecessarily expensive for what they offer. You probably already carry some items in a ziplock freezer bag. They are nice and cheap, and light weight. If you clad them in a duct tape jacket of Gorilla Tape, they become more rugged than a naked Aloksac, and you do not need to cover them with a flimsy light nylon zippered bag to make it look pretty.

The ziplock makes a good carrier for the duct tape as it does not degrade the duct tape's adhesive. If you use transparent duct tape on one side, then you can see the contents. If you extend the ends of the duct tape past the edges of the bag and fuse them, it will not peel off in your pack. And if you place kapton tabs under the edges of the duct tape, it makes it easy to peel the duct tape off the bag when you need to use it.

Why two types of duct tape?

The Gorilla tape is stronger and grips the best of all duct tapes, and the transparent tape is second best and thinner than the Gorilla tape. Both these characteristics can have advantages over the Gorilla Tape in some circumstances

Instructions:

After we populate the kit with items, we purge the bag before sealing the lip with an inert gas to remove moisture and oxygen. This helps preserve sterility by reducing oxidization. It's not a huge deal, but it is best not to open the bag until you need to use something in it. If you do open it to add a few items, you can re-purge it if you have a can of computer 'dust off', as they also use Dymol as their propellant.
