Baofeng UV-82

This model has the more traditional form factor for the case than the UV-5R, making it about 30% larger and heavier. In that trade-off you get louder audio and more power output (which won't make a large difference when using proper antennas in the mountains). The other distinguishing feature is the PTT buttons. There is a PTT for the A channel and a PTT for the B channel which can be a very convenient feature if you are in the field and talking to two different parties at the same time (it has a separate button for A and B channels, so you do not have to unlock the keypad and then toggle between the channels using the 'A' - 'B' toggle button first). In terms of features and Spec's it is similar to the UV-5R. It does have the loudest audio output of all the radios that we stock. This radio is easier to hold and operate than the UV-5 or A52 when wearing gloves, while the trade-off is it is heavier and has a larger form-factor. Like the other Baofeng's, it does not have a knob on top to dial in the channels you want to go to, you either use the up/down arrow keys, or enter the channel number directly.
